We provide many services including:

• Individual consultations for adult and paediatric inpatients, to assess, treat and educate on therapeutic diets (e.g. patients with coeliac disease, patients with swallowing problems).
  
• Advice for patients who are at risk of malnutrition or who are unable to take sufficient nutrition from food (e.g. patients who need to be tube fed, patients who are eating very little following surgery).
  
• Services for adult and paediatric outpatients who are seen in general dietetic clinics and also in disease. Specific clinics include diabetic, coeliac and cystic fibrosis clinics.
  
• Providing nutrition education for patients, carers and other health professionals. (e.g. nutrition input into cardiac rehab group, structured diabetic education sessions, regular nurse training)
  
• Acting as advisors to the Trust on nutritional issues (e.g. standards and specifications for the patient food service, working on a variety of groups and committees).

Amersham Hospital: Inpatients, day hospital and outpatient clinics (including adult, paediatric and specialist - coeliac, diabetic sports nutrition).

Stoke Mandeville Hospital: Inpatients, day hospital and outpatient clinics (including adult, paediatric and specialist – paediatric feeding; coeliac; cystic fibrosis; adult and paediatric diabetes).

Wycombe Hospital: Inpatients (including Shelburne Unit) and outpatient clinics (including adult, paediatric and specialist – coeliac; cystic fibrosis; adult, gestational and paediatric diabetes).

Community: Community dietitians are involved in either health promotion, clinical work or a mixture of both. They promote healthy food choices to prevent disease by increasing awareness of the link between nutrition and health.

Community dietitians help to facilitate a positive change in food choices amongst individuals, groups and communities. Local teams are based in Aylesbury, Amersham and Wycombe. Each of the teams provide a number of outpatient clinics for adults and children in a variety of locations – GP surgeries, local health centres and community hospitals.

The service currently offers the following areas of expertise:

• Obesity management

• Home enteral feeding

• Paediatrics

• Diabetes

• Adult mental health

• Learning disabilities

• Input into care homes and community hospitals
