Having a baby is an exciting time for all the family. At Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, we want to provide you with excellent care and support throughout your pregnancy and birth.

Our highly skilled and dedicated maternity team work closely with you and your family to ensure that you feel comfortable, cared for and in control at every stage of your pregnancy.

We are very proud to offer four places of birth, these include the labour ward at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, the Aylesbury Birth Centre, the Wycombe Birth Centre and a home birth service across the county. Please watch this short video to hear more about the services we offer.

If you wish to inform us of your pregnancy directly, please use our self-registration form – your GP may already have asked you to do this. You will need to click here to download the form as a Word document, then please email the completed form to .

Private rooms are available on the antenatal and postnatal ward. These provide you and your family extra comfort and privacy during your stay. If you would like further information about this option including prices, please speak to your midwife. 

COVID-19 Updates:

During the COVID-19 pandemic we have had to make changes to our maternity service to make sure we can minimise the risk of infection. These changes include restrictions on visitors for maternity appointments.

Please check with your midwife and our maternity team for up to date details of any changes in place due to the pandemic.

12 week pregnancy scan appointments

From Monday 24 August one adult companion will be permitted to accompany you to your 12 week scan.

Unfortunately, with the exception of 12 week scan appointments, no partners or visitors are permitted to attend other antenatal or postnatal outpatient appointments, please attend alone.

Births at Wycombe Birth Centre suspended during COVID-19

Due to the current Covid-19 pandemic, the Trust has had to make a number of temporary changes to maternity services to ensure that staff can be redeployed to areas where they are most needed and ensure patient safety is not comprised. For more information please click here.


Free flu jab for pregnant women

Pregnancy naturally weakens the body’s immune system. The flu jab is the safest way to help protect mother and baby against flu and you can get a free flu jab at any stage within your pregnancy. We are able to offer the flu jab if you are attending the hospital for an appointment please ask at reception on arrival or speak to your midwife.
