Can someone come with me?

A relative or friend can come with you to hospital, but as soon as we book you in on arrival, you’ll need to leave unless you have a carer. They can stay until you go for your operation.

If your operation requires a stay in hospital, your friends and relatives can visit you afterwards and bring additional items you might need.

Occasionally on the day we may need to cancel operations due to unforeseen circumstances. We apologise for this and acknowledge this can be a stressful time for you.

What will happen when I arrive?

A staff member will help you get settled in and answer any questions you might have.  You’ll get an estimated time for surgery and discharge. This can be subject to change but the nursing staff will do their best to keep you updated throughout your stay.

Before surgery the surgical and anaesthetic team will see you and discuss your planned procedure. You can ask questions about your surgery and post operative care and recovery.
