Trauma and Orthopaedics

We care for patients with injuries and conditions that affect the musculoskeletal system.

Our orthopaedics team sees patients who have problems with bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, muscles and nerves (the musculoskeletal system). This could be as a result of an injury or a long term condition.

We do trauma surgery for injuries at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. If you have a long-term condition and need planned (elective) surgery, such as a hip or knee replacement operation, you’ll have surgery at Wycombe Hospital.

After your surgery, we’ll take you to our orthopaedic ward, which is next to our operating theatre, to recover and rehabilitate. This streamlined approach has resulted in a significant reduction in the length of patients’ hospital stay.

We provide orthopaedic care for:

  • hips
  • knees
  • ankles
  • feet
  • shoulders
  • elbows
  • wrists and hands
  • necks
  • thoracic (upper and middle back) and lumber (lower back) spines.

Private rooms for privacy after your surgery

Private rooms are available for orthopaedic patients at Wycombe Hospital if you wish to pay for a bit of extra comfort and privacy after surgery.

Call our Private Rooms Reservation Manager on 07929 831160 to find out more or view further information about our private rooms – including a booking form.

Our services

As well as surgery, we offer treatment for patients with less severe injuries or conditions. This may include physiotherapy, pain management, the use of supports and braces and occupational therapy if you need additional support in your home.

A specialist clinical physiotherapist works in our back pain triage clinic, the shoulder clinic, and the knee clinic.
