This year’s awards fall under our three strategic priorities: Great place to work, Outstanding care and Healthy communities with an additional People’s Award category ,

Great place to work

This award will be presented to an energetic and committed leader someone who leads by example, who demonstrates consistent compassionate and inclusive leadership and who exemplifies the CARE values and leads by example:

  • Compassionate and inclusive
  • Conscientious and committed to delivering the Trust’s mission, vision and values
  • Encouraging higher levels of performance for both individuals and as teams
  • Creating an environment of trust, building a team that works with each other
  • Coaching, mentoring, inspiring and motivating others to learn, grow and deliver
  • Valuing and encouraging staff engagement, innovation and creativity
  • Be a role model,” walking the talk”

This award will be awarded to a colleague whose actions have made a difference to patients or colleagues over the last 12 months. This is awarded to individuals ONLY. Tell us what they did and why and how it made a difference for our patients and/colleagues. We’re looking for:

  • Team spirit
  • Compassionate care to patients or colleagues
  • Kindness
  • Going the extra mile for patients or colleagues
  • Innovation
  • Inclusivity

Recognises colleagues in clinical and non-clinical sponsored educational and learning programmes, e.g. apprenticeships, management/leadership training, masters etc. Tell us how this individual:

 

  • Is applying the learning to deliver improvements in quality, safety or positively impacting on systems and processes
  • Has developed in their practice or skills, e.g. taken on more responsibilities, demonstrated innovation or used their initiative to meet the objectives of their team or service
  • How they have worked collaboratively within their team to develop their service or their team.
  • Is providing measurable value for the benefit of patients/colleagues
  • Is making a difference to their team/colleagues

Outstanding Care

 

This award is for an acute team that has demonstrated consistently high quality, personal and compassionate clinical care, achieving the highest standards of patient safety and outcomes and embracing teamwork.  Nominations should demonstrate the following:

  • Team spirit
  • Quality of care
  • Innovation
  • Kindness
  • Going the extra mile for patients or colleagues
  • Inclusivity

This award is for a community team that has demonstrated consistently high quality, personal and compassionate clinical care, achieving the highest standards of patient safety and outcomes and embracing teamwork.  Nominations should demonstrate the following:

  • Going the extra mile for patients or colleagues
  • Inclusivity

This award is for an individual or team working within a non-clinical support service that have worked hard to deliver above the expectations of patients or colleagues, delivering a true customer service experience. This would apply to Trust colleagues in departments such as Pathology, IT, Finance, Property Services, Information, Research, Governance, HR and all other support functions within the Trust. This is also open to our partner contractors delivering portering, housekeeping and other support services across our Trust.

Nominations should demonstrate the following:

  • Going the extra mile for patients or colleagues
  • Quality of care
  • Kindness
  • Innovation
  • Team spirit
  • Inclusivity

This award is for an individual or team who have directly improved patient care, health outcomes or patient safety through innovation, research and/or quality improvement initiatives.

 

Nominations should demonstrate the following:

 

  • Using Quality Improvement and Research Methodology to improve/enhance services for our patients
  • Improving quality of care, safety or health outcomes
  • Strong evidence of measurable results and sustainability
  • Collaboration with and involving our patients, community and colleagues
  • Fostering a culture of knowledge and learning across the organisation

This award recognises the exceptional long-term contribution of a colleague in their chosen field of work. Judges will be looking for:

  • How they have made a lasting impression in their chosen field of work
  • Their passion for the NHS
  • How they have supported or created significant improvements and demonstrated outstanding achievements during their NHS career to date
  • A role model and mentor for other colleagues

Healthy Communities

 

This award seeks to recognise those who have made the greatest contribution to equity, inclusion and diversity within the trust in the last year, showcasing improvements in the development/accessibility of services for our patients or improving the staff experience. They may have:

  • developed an innovative solution designed to promote equity, inclusion and diversity
  • engaged or supported under-represented groups
  • worked in collaboration or partnership with others to strengthen service provision in under-represented groups
  • taken to drive equity, inclusion and diversity either for our patients, communities or in the workplace
  • demonstrated qualities that have inspired/empowered others in under-represented communities or groups

This will be awarded to a volunteer or group of volunteers who have made a significant contribution to Trust services this year. The judges are looking for:

People’s Award

 

This award recognises those who have made a significant and memorable difference to the lives and experiences of patients and their families in outpatient, inpatient or community settings, during the last 12 months. Nominations from Patient/Carers/Members of the public.

What will the judges be looking for?

The judges will be looking for evidence of:

  • respect and good collaboration
  • positive outcomes for patients/service users
  • a consistently high-quality service/performance
  • best practice with lasting value to the Trust
  • effort and dedication over and above job role – those who went the extra mile during 2021
