Trauma services are provided from our dedicated unit at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. All musculoskeletal injuries are catered for here, including spinal trauma.
Elective surgery is carried out in the treatment centre based at Wycombe Hospital.
There is a streamlined system of admission and on the day of surgery you will usually be taken to the admission ward, which is adjacent to the operating theatre. You'll then be taken to the neighbouring orthopaedic ward after your operation to recover and rehabilitate. This approach has resulted in a significant reduction in length of hospital stay.
The following specialist areas of orthopaedic care are provided for:
hip, knee, ankle, foot, shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, neck, thoracic spine, lumbar spine.
Clinical specialist physiotherapist help is also on offer in the back pain triage clinic, the shoulder clinic, and the knee clinic.
Many internal audits are carried out, and we fully participate in the following national audits: national joint registry, national hip fracture database, patient outcomes in surgery and the United Kingdom rotator cuff (UKUFF) trial.
Private rooms are available in Wycombe Hospital to NHS patients who wish to pay for a little bit of extra comfort and privacy after surgery. These are available to Orthopaedic, General Surgery, Plastic Surgery and Urology patients. If you would like further information about this option, including prices, please call our Private Rooms Reservation Manager on 01296 315131 or click on the link here.
