Parking

From Monday 18 March 2024 the main car park for patients and visitors at the front of Amersham Hospital (alongside Whielden Street and next to Entrance 2) will be closed until the end of August.

Patients and visitors will still be able to park at the front of the hospital in the car park which has previously been reserved for staff – please use the pay & display machines. Hospital staff have been directed to use other parking areas at the back of the site.

These changes to car parking arrangements are to allow for a new MRI and CT scanning modular unit to be installed at the hospital.

The Trust apologies for any inconvenience these changes may cause.

There’s an additional smaller patient car park behind the building, or you can also park on the road at the front of the hospital but there’s a limited number of parking spaces.

Car parking charges for Amersham Hospital:

  • up to 30 minutes: free
  • 30 minutes to 2 hours: £3.50
  • 2 to 3 hours: £5
  • 3 to 4 hours:  £6.50
  • 4 to 24 hours: £9

You can pay by cash, card or using your phone if you have a payment facility set up.

Parking is free for blue badge holders. Use the disabled spaces only and display your badge clearly on your dashboard.

In ANPR parking areas, you must enter your vehicle registration number into the on-site system. Please see signs at each hospital site for further information.

If you’re visiting someone regularly who’s staying with us for a while, you can buy a concessionary ticket.

They cost £20 for 7 consecutive days. Ask the ward or department you’re visiting for a form.

There’s a maximum charge of £3.50 for patients who attend:

  • haematology/cancer day units
  • renal appointments
  • cancer care appointments
  • the Community Assessment and Treatment  Service (CATS)

Visit the reception desk on the ward with your appointment letter or appointment message plus your car registration. Tell the receptionist you need a parking concession.

It’s a fixed free of charge pass for 1 family vehicle to come and go as often as needed. A member of staff will need to sign off the pass and review it every 48 hours.

We’ll verify your visit and add it to our vehicle management system.

Public transport

There are several routes you can take depending on where you live. Check the latest bus routes and timetables.

Amersham station is the closest to the hospital (5 minutes by car or a 30 minute walk). It’s the last stop on the London Underground Metropolitan line. Chiltern railways also operate mainline services to and from Amersham.
