Cardiac and Stroke Receiving Unit (CSRU)
About this Ward/Department
We care for patients with a suspected cardiac condition who need specialist attention.
We assess patients 24 hours a day and admit people to our inpatient cardiac service if appropriate. We provide rapid clinical assessment and deliver the most appropriate immediate care before admission to the cardiac ward, transfer to an alternative service or discharge home.
Sometimes we can treat acute cardiac conditions at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, or in our Urgent Treatment Centre (UTC).
The CSRU is not available to walk-in patients. If you suspect you’re suffering from a cardiac condition which needs immediate medical attention, call 999.
