Trust updates guidance on mask wearing
We have changed our guidance on wearing masks on our hospital sites.
From today, 28 April 2023, visitors and patients will only be required to wear a facemask if advised to do so by Trust staff.
For example, facemasks would be required on wards and in departments where there may be patients with compromised immunity or in areas where cases of flu or COVID have been identified.
You are welcome to continue to wear a fluid resistant facemask if you would prefer to – facemasks are available on wards and at all entrances to our hospitals.
If you would prefer members of staff involved in your care to wear a facemask, please ask that they do so. Please also feel free to remind them to wash their hands – we want you to feel safe and comfortable in our care.
While in our healthcare settings we kindly ask you to continue to practice good hand hygiene and to wash your hands in soap and water at every opportunity.
Hand sanitiser is available for use upon entering and leaving ward areas (NB you still need to wash your hands too).
Please do NOT visit if you are unwell, have flu like symptoms or have experienced diarrhoea or vomiting in the last 48 hours.
