Screening for Retinopathy of Prematurity

Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) is a condition that affects blood vessels (which carry blood around the body) in a part of the eye called the retina. The retina is at the back of the eye – it detects light which allows us to see.
After a very premature birth, these blood vessels can start growing abnormally, resulting in ROP.

Please read information created by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health about this condition.
