Trust Chief Nurse receives MBE at Windsor Castle

On Tuesday 29 October Chief Nurse Karen Bonner received her MBE from The Princess Royal at Windsor Castle. She was awarded an MBE in recognition of her contribution to nursing, as part of the King’s Birthday Honours.

Karen has been a nurse for over 30 years and is a proud descendant of the Windrush generation, her father came to the UK in 1957 from Jamaica and her mother in 1965 from Barbados. Karen’s mother had worked as a Nursing Aid at Stoke Mandeville Hospital inspiring her to become a nurse.

Karen Bonner, Chief Nurse at the Trust said: “I was delighted to attend Windsor Castle last Tuesday to receive my MBE from HRH Princess Anne. This was a proud moment for my 80-year-old mother who attended with me. I received the award in honour of my parents who travelled here as part of the Windrush generation and to all the nursing and midwifery profession.”
