Stoke Mandeville Hospital nurse shortlisted for prestigious Nursing Times Award
Randolph Alburo, Deputy Charge Nurse looking after Medicine for Older People at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, has been shortlisted for the Ann Shuttleworth Rising Star Award at the 2024 Nursing Times Awards.
The award aims to recognise a nurse working in the NHS or independent sector who has been qualified for less than five years and demonstrates exceptional qualities that embody the best of nursing and the leadership skills to inspire others to follow their example.
Randolph is an internationally educated nurse from the Philippines and came to the UK with a dream of making a positive impact on people’s lives. He started in the NHS and at the Trust in 2017 and since then has shown a clear passion for nursing and commitment to caring for others.
On being shortlisted Randolph said: “Being part of the shortlist is really humbling and fills me with so much pride. It not only acknowledges my efforts, but also reflects the contribution of the organisation and the dedicated individuals I work with. I hope I can inspire future generations of nurses to deliver outstanding care and treat every patient as an individual with unique needs.”
Karen Bonner, Chief Nurse for the Trust said: “I am so proud that Randolph has been shortlisted for the Ann Shuttleworth Rising Star Award. Since joining the Trust, he has gone above and beyond to make an impact on those he has cared for and colleagues around him. This recognition is fully deserved and wish him the best of luck.”
In October 2020 Randolph was instrumental in establishing the Kalinga Buckinghamshire Filipino Health Professionals Organisation and is the Executive Secretary for the network.
The Nursing Times Awards will be at their annual home, the JW Marriott Grosvenor House Hotel on Park Lane in London on Wednesday 23 October 2024.
