Stoke Mandeville Hospital site developments on track to open this Spring
Over the last month lots of progress has been made on the Stoke Mandeville Hospital site with the new 21 bedded ward, situated near the Emergency Department, and phase 2 of the Research and Innovation building.
Both projects have seen the modules craned on to site and now Darwin Group and the teams are working hard to ensure they are ready for use this Spring.
The new ward will provide space for up to 21 additional inpatient beds to boost capacity and help frontline colleagues prepare for additional pressures. It is hoped this new unit will help to lessen the wait faced by patients arriving in our Emergency Department who need to be admitted to hospital.
The second phase of the Research and Innovation building will enable an expansion of the available office and business facilities for staff and allow the Trust to free up space in the Mandeville Wing for an area of enhanced ophthalmology services. The building will also provide an opportunity to enhance the digital services that can be offered for patients by including purpose-built video consultation areas.
