Local artist brightens up children’s ward
Local artist Luan Alban, Petalu, recently donated 100 pieces of original artwork to the children’s ward at Wycombe Hospital.
Luan was in hospital for an ankle she had broken three times. She has always been very happy with her experience at Wycombe Hospital and wanted to give something back. After a discussion with Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust Play Specialist Catherine Stevens, she set to work using products donated by Hobbycraft and printing services provided by Thames Graphics.
Trust Play Specialist Catherine Stevens said: “The artwork Luan has created is perfect for the children’s ward. The animal motifs bring a sense of fun to the space, which reflects our belief that play is an important part of the care we provide to our young patients.”
Artist Luan Alban said: “I couldn’t think of a better place for my artwork! I hope my animal creations brighten the days of children, parents and the staff who work so hard to keep everyone smiling.”
Paul Dowling, Territory Manager at Hobbycraft, said: “We’re delighted to donate 100 gallery frames to Wycombe Hospital. We love supporting children’s wellbeing and we know how important creativity is to generate fun and enjoyment during treatments.”
Alexis Povey, Manager at Thames Graphics, said: “As a local business, we naturally wanted to print this artwork for the children’s play therapy area and wards. We’re pleased to bring a splash of colour to the hospital!”
