Trust volunteer chaplain, David Short made an MBE in New Year’s honours list
Trust volunteer and honorary chaplain, Dave Short, has been made a Member of the order of the British Empire (MBE) for his services to Pastoral Care and to the community in Buckinghamshire.
Dave has been a volunteer with the Trust since 2014. He provides pastoral care to patients and staff. This includes conducting funerals for babies, Remembrance Day services, and providing chaplaincy support and services at weekends and out of hours. As a Roman Catholic Eucharistic minister Dave also regularly takes Communion to staff and to patients.
Dave says: “I am extremely honoured to have been recognised in this way. I enjoy my role as a volunteer honorary chaplain in the Trust and hope I can bring solace, a sense of peace and hope to all those I meet and those who need pastoral support at very challenging times.”
Stefan Tiran, Lead Chaplain for the Trust says: “It’s been a real privilege knowing Dave and having him as part of our chaplaincy team. Dave is always ready to share love and joy, at Christmas time, for example, he was an extremely convincing father Christmas.”
Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) is awarded for achievement or service in and to the community which is outstanding in its field and has delivered sustained and real impact which stands out as an example to others.
