Learn to save a life: Resuscitation Service visits the high street
On Friday 1 December from 3-7pm the Resuscitation Service at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust will be running FREE basic life support training from Unit 33 at Friars Square Shopping Centre in Aylesbury.
The 45-minute sessions are open to everyone who wants to learn how to resuscitate adults or children and infants when they have gone into cardiac arrest. Children who are 8 years old or over are welcome to participate but must be accompanied by an adult.
Survival rates from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest, when the heart suddenly stops pumping blood, remain low in the UK, with fewer than one in 10 people surviving. Learning basic life support can therefore literally mean the difference between life and death when you come across a stranger, colleague, friend or loved one who has collapsed and who’s heart has stopped.
Nick Thompson, Resuscitation Service Lead for the Trust said: “Would you know what to do if your loved one stopped breathing? We know that learning some simple skills around how to call for help and start the immediate steps of basic life support can make a real difference.
“Come along to our interactive sessions where you can learn and practice these life support skills in a relaxed and fun environment. All we ask for is a bit of your time, so that one day you might save a life.”
Book your 45min session by emailing bht.communications@nhs.net and state the session you wish to attend.
