Trust renews commitment to support local armed forces community
This week Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust celebrated achieving the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme Gold Award by resigning the Armed Forces Covenant and pledging to continue to support the local Armed Forces community across Buckinghamshire.
Chief Medical Officer, Andrew McLaren and Commanding Officer of the Defence Rehabilitation Centre, Group Captain Claire Myhill resigned the Armed Forces Covenant on Tuesday 3 October at an event with the Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire, The Countess Howe in attendance as well as the Head of the RAF Benevolent Fund, Chief Executive of the Star & Garter and colleagues from our Armed Forces family at the Trust.
Andrew McLaren, Chief Medical Officer for the Trust said: “It was wonderful to gather everyone together to celebrate the gold award and also resign the Armed Forces Covenant. As a Trust we are committed to working in partnership with and supporting our Armed Forces community and their families to ensure they are treated fairly and not disadvantaged by their service.”
Group Captain Claire Myhill, Commanding Officer of the Defence Rehabilitation Centre said: “Collaborating with organisations is beneficial not only for the Armed Forces community, but for employers who gain a workforce through recruitment of Service Leavers, Veterans and Reserves with nationally recognised technical qualifications as well as a whole range of transferable skills, not least leadership, teamwork and problem solving, often proven in challenging environments.”
