Update on industrial action: 24-26 August 2023

Date: 23/08/2023 | Category: News 2023

The British Medical Association (BMA) has announced that BMA consultants will take industrial action at NHS trusts across England, including at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust from 7am on Thursday 24 August to 7am on Saturday 26 August.

As always, our number one priority is to continue to ensure the safety of our patients as well as looking after the welfare and wellbeing of our colleagues. This will mean some necessary changes to the services that we are able to provide during and potentially after the strike.

Whilst most of our services, in our hospitals, in our community sites and in peopleā€™s homes, will continue to operate, including all emergency and essential services, we have had to postpone a number of planned outpatient appointments and elective procedures. Some appointments before and after the days of the industrial action may also be affected. All patients impacted by this will be contacted directly and rescheduled as soon as we can.

If you have not heard from us by the day of your appointment, please come to your procedure or appointment as planned.

We would like to ask for your support during this period by only coming to our Emergency Department in a genuine emergency. If you need medical help, but are not sure where to go, then visit NHS 111 eitherĀ onlineĀ or by phone who can provide advice and direct you to the best place for the care you need.
