Thank you to everyone who attended the Trust Open Day
On Saturday 29 July the Trust threw its doors open at Stoke Mandeville Hospital and invited local residents to find out what goes on behind the scenes.
Fortunately, the weather stayed dry and all who attended could enjoy a fun morning of demonstrations, tours and entertainment.
Behind the scenes tours were available so visitors could learn more about the work of our surgeons and theatre teams, our state-of-the-art Upper Limb Suite, our mortuary facilities and the training our clinical teams undertake in the simulation suite.
Visitors were also able to take a stroll through the beautiful Horatio’s Garden – within our National Spinal Injuries Centre. The garden is provided and maintained by the Horatio’s Garden charity.
Live music provided by the PMJ Jazz Band and a 50-strong Aylesbury Rock Choir together with dance performances from the Castielli School of Dance and the Sesha Natya Niketan Dance Group kept everyone entertained.
In addition, anyone thinking about a future career in healthcare was able to get lots of information at our careers fair talks.

Annual General Meeting
At the start of the open day the Trust held its Annual General Meeting. Watch presentations from our Trust Chair, David Highton; Chief Finance Officer, Jon Evans; and Chief Executive Officer, Neil Macdonald who provided an update on Trust highlights and performance from the year 2022-2023:
As part of the AGM meeting those who attended were shown two videos that provided an overview of some of the innovations that have taken place over the last 12 months:
Onward care is a partnership between Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust and Sodexo to provide a service for those returning home and in need of domestic support following a hospital stay.
Transformation through innovation takes a look back at developments in the Trust from the past 12 months and celebrates 75 years of the NHS.
Trust Chief Executive, Neil Macdonald said: “I had an amazing time at the Trust open day, careers fair and AGM. A huge thank you to all who gave up their time to support this event. We hope to see you again next year.”
