Wycombe and Amersham hospital Day Nurseries rated ‘GOOD’ by Ofsted
Both Trust in-house day nurseries at Amersham and Wycombe hospitals have received a rating of GOOD in their latest Ofsted inspections.
Wycombe Hospital Day Nursery was inspected in March last year and Amersham Hospital Day Nursery was inspected on 16 May 2023.
Ofsted inspectors recognised both nurseries as GOOD across all areas including: quality of education; behaviour and attitudes; personal development; leadership and management.
The report following the Amersham Hospital Day Nursery inspection stated that:
“Children are happy, confident and motivated to learn in this welcoming and homely nursery. They thrive through the close and loving bonds they form with the nurturing and caring staff. Babies giggle and smile as staff respond to their cues playfully. They benefit from positive interactions that support their early communication and language development right from the start. Children are settled and demonstrate that they feel safe and secure. Staff know children well and are highly attuned to their individual needs.”
The report following the Wycombe Hospital Day Nursery inspection stated that:
“Children are happy and feel safe in this close-knit family-orientated nursery. Babies have a wonderful time. Young children who speak English as an additional language feel settled. Staff support children with special educational needs and/or disabilities well. Staff have good knowledge of the children’s needs. Children make good progress in their development”.
The Wycombe report also notes that:
“Staff have worked incredibly hard during the COVID-19 pandemic. The nursery remained open throughout all lockdowns and parents comment on the dedicated staff team.”
Inspections were halted during COVID-19 lockdowns and so both nurseries have had a long wait for their up-to-date ratings.
Senior manager for both nurseries, Lorraine Murphy said: “I am pleased with the results of both inspections which is only possible with the continued hard work of the whole team at both nurseries. We work in partnership with parents and seek to provide a supportive workplace environment for our nursery staff to develop their careers – we never take for granted the trust that parents place in us to take the best possible care of their children.”
Amir Khaki, Deputy Director Inclusion, Education and Organisational Development for the Trust said: “Well done to the team at our in-house nurseries, especially Lorraine, who not only makes sure that the environment is safe, that the nursery team staff are well supported, that parents are fully involved and informed, that the children have space to learn and develop but that every day is filled with fun and joy.
“It’s fabulous that our Trust staff have this great facility so they can be reassured that while they’re hard at work caring for our patients, their children are receiving the best possible care too.”
