Shining a light on SEND during Disability History Month
When the Trust was approached by Buckinghamshire Skills Hub to inspire young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) about local careers, we enlisted the help of Emily Wakefield, our Therapy Lead for Discharge to Assess (D2A).
Emily, who is herself neurodivergent, diagnosed with combined ADHD and sensory hypersensitivity, generously shared her insight. We’re now very proud to launch a new short film to mark Disability History Month in which Emily speaks about the challenges and benefits of supporting neurodiverse colleagues alongside Chief People Officer Bridget O’Kelly.
Not only does Emily send out an inspiring message to young people: she has helped the Trust demonstrate best practice as an employer and also reveals very practical ways in which colleagues can support each other.
