Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust would like to reassure residents in Buckinghamshire that it will continue to run emergency and urgent services on hospital sites on the additional bank holiday that has been declared for Monday 19th September for the Queen’s funeral. Our district nurses will continue to provide their normal service looking after people in their own homes and all maternity services will run as usual.

Most planned operations and outpatient appointments booked for next Monday (19 September) will be rescheduled and we will contact patients directly affected to rearrange their appointment for as soon as possible.

Raghuv Bhasin, Chief Operating Officer at the Trust, said: “In line with organisations up and down the country, we will mark the day of Her Majesty The Queen’s funeral as a bank holiday.

“Our urgent and emergency care services for the residents of Buckinghamshire will, of course, continue as with any other bank holiday.  Patients whose planned outpatient appointments or operations are being rescheduled will be contacted as soon as possible to ensure that their appointment is rearranged in a timely way – either before the bank holiday or in the weeks after – with a particular focus on those who have been waiting the longest for their care.

“If people need urgent, but not life-threatening, medical help over the bank holiday, or at any other time of the year, the teams at NHS 111 are on hand to help and give advice to direct you to the most appropriate place.”
