The Trust has appointed Mr Andrew McLaren as its new Chief Medical Officer (CMO).

Mr McLaren took over as interim CMO after Dr Tina Kenny retired from the role on 1 April 2021. He joined the Trust in 2004 as a consultant surgeon following training in the Oxford Region, with a period as a Clinical Lecturer in Surgery with the University of Oxford.

Whilst maintaining a clinical practice, he has held a number of leadership roles in the Trust more recently as Divisional Chair for Surgery & Critical Care for 10 years and as Deputy MD and Cancer Lead since 2017.  He has a strong interest in improving clinical pathways focusing on better outcomes for patients.

Chair of the Board, Hattie Llewelyn-Davies said: “Andrew has proven himself a great addition to the board since becoming interim CMO in April. Following a rigorous recruitment process, it was clear that Andrew was an excellent choice to take on the role permanently.”

Commenting on his appointment, Andrew added, “Our vision is for outstanding care, healthy communities and a great place to work. To meet the changing needs of the population of Buckinghamshire, especially those living in deprived areas, will require significant transformation of how we and our partners provide care so I am delighted that as Chief Medical Officer I will be able to play my part in ensuring that all of our residents receive the care that they need and are supported to live well and stay well.”
