Buckinghamshire Nurse makes finals in Student Nursing Times Awards 2021

Nursing Associate (NA) Apprentice Sally Williams has been named as one of the Nursing Associate Trainee of the Year finalists in this year’s Student Nursing Times Awards.

Sally began the NA Apprenticeship programme with Buckinghamshire New University in October 19 and is now employed by the Trust. During her training she worked at the National Spinal Injuries Centre (NSIC) at Stoke Mandeville Hospital and she is due to start a new role within the Community District Nursing team in Wycombe.

Nicky Wheels, Education Transformation Lead at the Trust, said: “Sally is such a passionate and driven person and she would be a great asset to any of the teams across the Trust. The District Nursing team are lucky to have her working with them and I have no doubt that she will make a valuable contribution in her new role. Sally is very committed to delivering authentic person-centred care which is a core part of our Trust’s mission to deliver personal and compassionate care.”

According to Catherine Forward, Academic Lead at BNU, who nominated Sally: “Sally underestimates the impact that she has on others and has the potential to be a truly exceptional healthcare professional. She is already leading improvements in her area of work and changing practice for the benefit of her patients. Sally has been very adaptable to the changes and challenges that Covid-19 pandemic, she is a great ambassador for the Nursing Associate Programme and has represented her peers on a number of occasions. “
