What is non-emergency patient transport (NEPTS)?

Non-emergency patient transport services provide free transport services for people who need to travel to or from hospital or a medical appointment but are unable to travel without specialist support. For example, for people with severe mobility difficulties or who need extra support during a journey.

The Non-Emergency Patient Transport Service (NEPTS) is provided by South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust (SCAS).

Patient-led booking

You (and your family members or carers) can book, cancel or change your non-emergency patient transport (NEPTS) if necessary, and can track the vehicle to get a more specific time of pick-up.

Book online
You can book NEPTS directly via the online system. It is available and easy to use for those patients who have travelled with non-emergency patient transport provided by South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) in the past, just visit:

https://managemybooking.scas.nhs.uk/patientzone

If you’ve never used the NEPTS service before you will need to book via the telephone to get set up onto the system (see phone number below). To get set up you need to provide your NHS Number and your date of birth.

Book via telephone

Call Thames Valley patient Led Line 0300 100 0015

Patients can book via the online platform up to 20 days in advance but no later than working days before the appointment.

Please note: The NEPTS booking system changed to a patient-led booking system 1 November 2023. Healthcare professionals no longer have access to book transport for routine outpatient appointments and will direct you to the number above or to the online system so you can arrange the transport directly.
