About this Ward/Department
The Frailty Same Day Emergency Care (FSDEC) service provides urgent treatment for older patients not requiring admission to hospital. It is open daily from 8am-8pm. FSDEC is consultant-led in normal working hours and has consultant supervision out of normal working hours, supported by a junior doctor and senior nurses. Patients need to fulfil certain criteria to be accepted into FSDEC to ensure clinical safety. FSDEC works closely with the Emergency Department, the ambulance services, the Medical Day Unit and the Ambulatory Emergency Care Unit (AECU).
