Who are we

We’re staffed by Macmillan cancer information and support healthcare professionals . Trained volunteers also support our team.

Who is the service for?

It’s for all people with cancer being treated at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. The service helps ensure thatĀ people affected by cancer have access to good quality, comprehensive and appropriateĀ information and support.

What we offer

  • Drop-in and appointment service for advice and support.
  • Citizens Advice advisor (via email/ telephone).
  • Wig supply and fitting service (via the phone and virtual).
  • Signposting to other services including complementary therapies and local and national support groups.
  • A wide range of information booklets/leaflets on all aspects of living with cancer.
  • Advice and support once treatment ends.

Free prescriptions

All people with cancer undergoing treatment can apply for an exemption certificate for a free prescription from their GP.

Macmillan Citizens Advice caseworker

A Macmillan Citizens Advice caseworker is available for people with cancer and their families.

Macmillan Help Overcome Problems Effectively (HOPE) course

A 6 week self-management programme designed to increase your ability to cope. It covers topics such as:

  • fatigue
  • healthy eating
  • exercise
  • fears for the future
  • mindfulness
  • goal setting.

Take Control course

A 1-day condensed version of the HOPE Course

Wig/headwear supply and fitting service

A free service funded by the Cancer Care and Haematology Charitable Fund. It’s available face-to-face at the Raoul Salon or via telephone virtually.

Please ask your CNS, chemotherapy nurses or contact us directly for a referral.

Creative arts

The Creative Art Group
Oasis CafƩ

An opportunity to get creative, have a coffee and socialise with others.

We provide an Outreach service based in the Sunrise Cancer Unit on the 5th Floor of the hospital.
