      • Please check that your GP has sent an urgent blood test request electronically to the hospital.
    • If they haven’t, your GP will give you your urgent blood test referral paperwork which you will need to bring with you to the clinic you attend.
  • Outpatients: If you have been asked to have a blood test by a hospital consultant during your outpatient appointment you can attend the blood test clinic without pre-booking in order to have a blood test before you leave the hospital.

Blood tests during the COVID-19 risk period

If you have booked a blood test please:

  • do not attend your appointment if you’re experiencing COVID-19 symptoms
  • ask the clinician who asked you to have a blood test if it can wait until you feel better
  • do not bring anyone with you to your blood test unless they’re a registered carer – this includes children
  • wear a face covering when you enter the building and during your appointment.
