Eating, drinking and swallowing
You may need support with your swallowing because of:
- brain injury, for example, stroke, traumatic brain injury
- progressive conditions, for example, motor neurone disease, Parkinson’s disease, dementia
- cancer
- respiratory conditions
- spinal injuries
How we support you
Our therapists may suggest strategies, exercises or modifications to food and drink to help with these difficulties. We may also consider assessments such as an x-ray of swallowing (videofluoroscopy) or a type of endoscopy (camera) to study swallowing.
We may see you:
- in hospital if you’re already an inpatient
- at one of our outpatient clinics
- at a care home
- in your own home.
