LEVEL 1
- Provides a practical introduction to the Makaton Language Programme
- Recommended for parents, family members, carers and workers who need to use Makaton at home/work
- Sessions include hints and tips for effective signing/symbol use, how to start using Makaton in everyday situations at home or work, using and applying Makaton to develop the communication skills of others
- Teaches the signs and symbols from stages 1 and 2 of the core vocabulary plus some of the additional stage
- For schools, it is recommended that Level 1 and 2 are attended.
LEVEL 2
- Participants must have attended Level 1 training
- Builds on the knowledge gained in Level 1
- Teaches the signs and symbols from Stages 3 and 4 of the core vocabulary plus the rest of the additional stage
LEVEL 3
- Participants must have attended Level 2 training
- Builds on the knowledge gained in Levels 1 & 2
- Revises the signs and symbols from Level 1 and 2 and teaches the signs and symbols for Stages 5 and 6 of the core vocabulary
- Helps you to improve and develop your signing and symbol skills to be able to use them effectively every day
LEVEL 4
- Participants must have attended Level 3 training
- Builds on the knowledge gained in Levels 1-3
- Revises the signs and symbols from Level 1, 2 and 3 training and teaches the signs and symbols for Stages 7 and 8 of the Core Vocabulary
- Level 4 training completes the Core Vocabulary
To participate in this training you will need a booking, computer, laptop or tablet with a working camera, microphone and a stable internet connection per candidate. Due to the small screen, smartphones can only be used if no other option is available.

This webinar is for parents/carers and early years practitioners who want to learn more about the best ways to support early language skills in young children. The child/children you support will be communicating using a combination of sounds and gestures.
The webinar goes through how to support children’s early language development using ten simple strategies you can practise at home or where care is provided.
It has been broken down into five parts of 10-15 minutes each to make it easier to watch. We recommend you watch all five parts in order if watching for the first time, but you could dip in to relevant parts if you wanted a refresher.
