South Asian heritage residents invited to take part in community-based genetics study

Buckinghamshire residents of Bangladeshi and Pakistani heritage can contribute to vital health research by joining the Genes & Health study  – one of the world’s largest community-based genetics studies. The study aims to improve future healthcare by helping scientists and doctors better understand diseases that disproportionately affect these communities.

Bangladeshi and Pakistani people are more likely to develop conditions such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and mental health disorders at younger ages than the general UK population. By analysing genetic and health data from 100,000 volunteers, Genes & Health is working to uncover the reasons behind these disparities and support research into better treatments.
