Please give as much notice as possible to change an appointment by calling your antenatal clinic reception.

If you feel any change in your baby’s pattern of movements please call us at the day assessment unit on the same day so we can invite you in for some monitoring.

If you are feeling unwell with a headache and are experiencing any flashing lights or are concerned about the symptoms of pre-eclampsia please call us at the day assessment unit on the same day for advice.

If you are itching, especially on the palms of your hands and soles of your feet and / or your itching is worse at night, then we need to take some blood tests to assess for obstetric cholestasis. Either your community midwife or the day assessment unit can take the relevant blood tests – please call us within 1-2 days.

If you think your waters have broken (usually a sudden gush or constant trickle of fluid), please contact us:

If your water is clear, you’re not having contractions and/or you are 37+ weeks, please call the day assessment unit to let us know as soon as possible:

If you are having abdominal pain then please call us on the labour ward so we can discuss the type of pain with you and determine the best place for you to be seen. 

For example, this may be with your GP if we suspect a urine infection or a non-pregnancy related problem, or at the hospital if we think it may be related to your pregnancy
