Your labour and birth
Every labour experience is unique to each woman. We work closely with you and your birthing partner throughout your pregnancy and birth to support you to have a positive birth experience.
We have a range of birthing aids at our birth centres and labour ward to help you to remain mobile and active throughout labour and to manage your pain as naturally as possible. We also have access to gas and air, pethidine and on the labour ward you can have a mobile epidural to help you to remain as comfortable as possible.
Women experience the onset of labour in a variety of different ways and studies undertaken suggest that for many women the onset of regular contractions does not coincide with what they perceive to be their onset of labour. If you are experiencing contractions and believe that you have started labour, please call the labour ward in the first instance. Our midwives can offer advice and support for you to remain at home for as long as your feel comfortable.
