The aim of the tissue viability service is twofold. Firstly to assist in the prevention of pressure damage to the skin through identification of at risk patients through assessment, ensuring that preventative equipment, such as pressure relieving mattresses and cushions are provided as required.
The service also provides advice and education to nursing and medical staff in relation to pressure ulcer prevention. Secondly to provide an expert advisory service to the nursing and medical staff for all aspects of woundcare.
