What do I need to bring to my outpatient clinic appointment?
Please bring a list of medications (ideally a copy of your prescription) and results of any investigations such as scans or blood tests done recently.
Where will the injections be done?
The majority of the procedures are done at Stoke Mandeville and occasionally they may done at Wycombe Hospital.
Can I eat and drink before my pain procedure?
As some of the patients might need sedation during the procedure, a general rule is to not have any solid food six hours prior and drink four hours before the procedure. You can have clear fluids such as black coffee, black tea, dilute squash or water up to two hours before the procedure.
I normally take medication to thin my blood. Do I need to stop these before I can have my injection?
We will inform you about what medication to stop before you come in for the injection. This is usually done when you are seen in clinic and a reminder is sent when your injection appointment is made. Please let staff know your list of medications when you come for your injection.
