Parents may visit at anytime, the unit has a quiet time between 12.30pm – 2.30pm. We ask that parents allow their infants to take advantage of this time to rest. Siblings may visit at anytime after 2.30pm.
Any other visitors must be accompanied by one of the infant’s parents. We ask that there are only two visitors at each bed space at any one time. Visiting times for this group are between 7:00 - 8.00pm. Children apart from siblings are asked not to visit.
We have a specialist support group based at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. BURPS (baby unit relatives and parent support) was set up in April 2000. It is made up of a group of parents and relatives who have had a baby on the unit. They understand the situation that parents find themselves in and try to give support and practical help. Regular coffee mornings and evenings are held. Any member of staff will be happy to give you more information.
You can email BURPS on smburps@aol.com
More information on the neonatal unit can be found on our wards and departments page.
