Patients can be referred by any member of our rehabilitation team. The first appointment will include an assessment of the nature and extent of their difficulties and may include an assessment of the mood and coping strategies they are currently using to deal with their injury.
We will then discuss with them a plan of how to address any difficulties that have been identified. Research and clinical experience has shown that discussing problems in a confidential environment, focussed on patients individual needs, helps people to cope and adjust to their injury in the long term.
Issues discussed with our clinical psychologists are confidential and will only be discussed, if relevant, with other members of the clinical team. Notes will also be kept separate from medical records.
Patients are able to stop seeing our clinical psychologists at any time; this will not affect their overall treatment at the centre.
