Our dedicated patient education officer facilitates education programmes for patients. They also run dedicated education days for carers and relatives of newly-injured patients.
While our patient education programme provides input from our clinical experts, it actively encourages former spinal cord injured patients/carers and relatives to share their life experiences with those newly injured.
Below you can find out more about our patient education service and view a typical education timetable:
In addition, our patient education officer organises ‘relatives’ days’ several times a year. These are held over the course of a day, and lunch and refreshments are provided. These sessions offer valuable information and support to the relatives of a family member who has sustained a spinal cord injury. They include presentations from doctors, therapists and nurses on a range of issues and provide plenty of opportunity for questions and discussion. We also invite ex patients who have sustained spinal cord injury and now leading full and successful lives in the community; they are always willing to share their experiences.
