Occupational therapy
We aim to help you regain as much independence as possible in all aspects of daily living.
Acute/bed rest phase
- upper limb therapy including splinting as required
- daily living tasks, eg feeding and drinking
- finding out about you, your family and daily life
- making contact with your local community services
Rehabilitation
- helping you identify your priorities and goals
- helping you to become more independent in your daily living, eg practising getting dressed
- identifying equipment that will help you live as independently as possible
- access to a range of leisure interests, eg gardening
- individual and group treatment sessions to improve upper limb function
- arranging for your home to be assessed for suitability
- community visits
- preparing you and your family for when you leave hospital
- access to computers and assistive technology
- providing information about: driving, employment and education.
Our buildings have been designed to offer internal and external areas with a comprehensive range of surfaces, gradients and other recreational activities to help with your rehabilitation.
