Our service

Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust Health Visiting Service is commissioned by the Local Authority.

Health visitors are qualified registered nurses who have undertaken further training to a degree level in child health, public health and health promotion.  Our health visiting teams comprise of health visitors, registered nurses, nursery nurses and team administrators. 

Every family with a child under five years old has access to the health visiting team according to the Department of Health’s Healthy Child Programme.  

Five contacts are offered:

  • Before the birth 28 to 34 weeks of pregnancy
  • New Birth 10 – 14 days
  • 6- 8 weeks
  • One year Health Review (10 – 12 months)
  • Two year Health Review ( 24 – 30 months)

We work in the community, in children’s Centre’s and in families’ own homes to promote health and wellbeing and to support families with all aspects of bringing up a child. Such as:

  • Getting to know your baby groups
  • Infant feeding including breast feeding support
  • Introduction to solid foods

  • Home and Car Safety
