To support the increased demand for critical care due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Trust has made a number of temporary changes to our children and young people’s services to ensure that staff can be redeployed to areas where they are most needed and patient safety is not compromised. Our service

Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust Health Visiting Service is commissioned by the Local Authority.

Health visitors are qualified registered nurses who have undertaken further training to a degree level in child health, public health and health promotion.  Our health visiting teams comprise of health visitors, registered nurses, nursery nurses and team administrators. 

Every family with a child under five years old has access to the health visiting team according to the Department of Health’s Healthy Child Programme.  

Five contacts are offered:

  • Before the birth 28 to 34 weeks of pregnancy
  • New Birth 10 – 14 days
  • 6- 8 weeks
  • One year Health Review (10 – 12 months)
  • Two year Health Review ( 24 – 30 months)

We work in the community, in children’s Centre’s and in families’ own homes to promote health and wellbeing and to support families with all aspects of bringing up a child. Such as:

  • Getting to know your baby groups
  • Infant feeding including breast feeding support
  • Introduction to solid foods
