NHS e-Referral is a national electronic appointment booking service available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year which enables you to make your first outpatient appointment direct with your hospital of choice.
When you visit your GP and they decide you need to be referred to a specialist, e-referral shows your GP:
Your GP will discuss the options with you and will generate a unique booking reference number and password on the e-referral system.
If you know where and when you would like to be seen, your GP can book the appointment for you, or can book the appointment later yourself using e-referral so long as you have your unique booking reference number and password.
To use e-referral call 0345 608 8888 or visit the e-referral website
For some conditions in Buckinghamshire, your GP may refer you via a specialist service that may be able to prevent a visit to hospital. In these instances your referral will be assessed by specialists who may direct you to one of their clinics. If they think you do need a hospital appointment they will ring you to discuss where you would like to go.
Let us know your comments, compliments and complaints so that we can listen, learn and respond
