Our people - a strategic priority
Our ambition is for the Trust to continue to be a great place to work, where our people have the right skills and values to deliver safe and compassionate care, every time. We know from research that has been carried out across the NHS that the way staff feel at work is significantly associated with patient satisfaction, patient mortality, infection rates, as well as staff absence and turnover. Quite simply, the more engaged staff members are, the better the outcomes for patients and the organisation generally. That is why our people are one of three strategic priorities at BHT.
There are a number of ways we engage with our colleagues across the Trust, including:
We’ve worked hard to improve staff experience in recent years and the results we have achieved really demonstrate this. Since 2014, staff engagement across the Trust has significantly improved, with our staff feeling more motivated, able to make improvements, and able to speak out confidently about concerns and risks to our patients. This has led to some real improvements in patient care which we are extremely proud of.
