The library service holds over 9,700 books and documents on medicine and related subjects, including a specialist collection on spinal injuries, held in the Wilfred Stokes library, Stoke Mandeville Hospital. NHS staff also have access to a national collection of electronic books.

From the BMJ: A Junior Doctor's Guide to the NHS
The national collection of electronic books can be accessed from MyiLibrary using your NHS athens password. This collection includes:
- ABC series
- Key topics series
- Lecture notes series
- Mental health collection
- Oxford handbooks
- World health organization publications

Reference collection
The library has a small reference collection of dictionaries, directories, maps, statistical information and acts of parliament to help you with your general enquiries. Some of the textbooks in the general book collection are also designated as reference copies. Items from the reference collection or designated as reference copies may not be borrowed.
How do I obtain books not held by BHT library service?
If the library does not hold the item you require, we may be able to borrow it for you from another library through our document supply service.
