The Service Pledge is a tool designed by Breakthrough Breast Cancer to enable patient led service improvements. Breakthrough works closely with a number of hospitals to establish what is important to patients. The pioneering charity then provides tools and support needed by the hospital to set specific goals and make improvements based on patient feedback.
Buckinghamshire Healthcare has committed to a range of improvement goals including:
Offering all patients a written record of their diagnosis and a personalised treatment plan.
Providing clear explanations of what to expect on a first visit
Steve Baker said: “I am delighted Bucks Healthcare is recommitting to the Breakthrough Breast Cancer Service Pledge. Continuous improvement should be seen across the public services and I hope the Trust will now make accelerating progress.”
Hillary Hillson, breast clinical nurse specialist said: “We are delighted to have taken part in the Service Pledge. Working with Breakthrough has been a real eye-opener into what is most important to our patients. We hope to continue to improve on our services, ensuring the best possible care for all our patients.”
