14 December 2010
Earlier in the year, we created a new and expanded Acute Medicine for Older People ward at Wycombe Hospital. On Tuesday 14 December, this ward will transfer from its current location to ward 9, further enhancing the care we provide.
One of our main aims is to ensure that our patients receive the right care in the right place at the right time. These recent improvements at Wycombe Hospital ensure that people requiring specialist Acute Medicine for Older People can be treated in one place, providing a far better patient experience.
The number of beds has not been affected by this move and we are working closely with patients and their families to ensure any disruption is kept to a minimum whilst the move takes place. There will be clear signposts letting people know where the new Acute Medicine for Older People ward is now located.
We also recognise that our patients need the necessary support services in place to help them return home as soon as possible. We are working hard to develop this support and have recently improved our rehabilitation services and step-down facilities in our community hospitals.
