
Inpatient unit
Buckingham Community Hospital has an inpatient service with 16 beds for patients over 16 years of age. We provide care for older people admitted from home or for rehabilitation following an episode of care in an acute hospital. In addition, we provide palliative and terminal care.
Intermediate care team
The intermediate care team, based at the hospital, provides care and rehabilitation to patients within their own homes, facilitating hospital discharge and preventing admission.
District nursing team
The district nursing team based at the hospital, support patients in their own home by providing 24/7 nursing care, assessment of nursing needs and liaising with other teams including the intermediate care team and the inpatient team.
Outpatient services
There are approximately 22 separate consultant, nurse and therapy-led specialist clinics run at Buckingham Community Hospital to enable patients to access these services more locally.

Clinics generally run Monday-Friday 8.30am -6pm, although some groups eg post/antenatal run at weekends.
Musculoskeletal physiotherapy outpatients service
This team provides an outpatient service from Monday – Friday, including some evenings. Access to the physiotherapy outpatient service is via GP referral. Physiotherapists are experts in rehabilitation, helping people return to their normal activities after illness and injury, and can advise on building easy, effective exercise into your daily routine.
Health visitors service
John Hampden unit
The community team for north of Aylesbury Vale is based in Buckingham Hospital. Also a day unit facility is available one half day per week for people who are experiencing mental health problems, such as memory problems or emotional difficulties. The unit is run by Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.

Podiatry service
The podiatry service operates an outpatient service Monday – Friday. Access to this service is via GP or self referral. The podiatry service deals with the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of foot and lower limb conditions. Following assessment, patients requiring podiatry intervention will be offered a treatment plan, with the aim of improving mobility, reducing pain and increasing independence. Bereavement listening service
We have trained volunteer listeners who meet with people either at home or at the hospital, to talk about their feelings and offer support. This may be on a one off basis or more long term depending upon individual needs.
