Over the past few weeks there has been concerns raised about the future of the dermatology service at Amersham Hospital. We would like to reassure you that there are no plans to close the dermatology service. However, in line with changing technologies and advances in medicine, we are working in conjunction with the PCT (who commission this service) to review this service to ensure we are offering the best quality of care to our patients and value for money to the taxpayer.

Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust is holding a trustwide band 5 nurse recruitment open day on Monday 7 November, from 10am to 2pm in the medical education centre at Wycombe Hospital.
Dr Graz Luzzi, Medical Director of Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, which runs the county’s hospitals, will tonight discuss with residents of Marlow ‘Better Healthcare in Bucks’, a programme of work underway to improve healthcare in the county. The meeting, which is being chaired by Steve Baker MP and organised by the Marlow People Action Group, follows a series of involvement sessions run by the NHS around the county to explore what views and concerns people have about their local health services.
Figures released this week by SSentif, which analysed figures from over 200 NHS trusts, highlighted Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust as having the lowest level of meals returned uneaten across the country.
A survey has been launched to give people in Buckinghamshire a chance to share their views on a number of key healthcare issues. This is one of a number of public involvement activities being run by the Better Healthcare in Bucks programme. The survey is available at: http://bit.ly/buckshealthcare. Ingrid Goodman, Senior Macmillan Development Manager, yesterday officially presented the Cancer Care and Haematology Unit at Stoke Mandeville Hospital with the Macmillan Quality Environment Mark (MQEM) in recognition of the exceptional service it provides.
Fern Britton officially re-named the recently refurbished endoscopy unit at Wycombe Hospital on 20 September, in honour of leading consultant Dr Alistair McIntyre who sadly past away recently.
A formal ceremony takes place at 10.30am on Thursday 22 September at the Cancer Care and Haematology Unit (CCHU) at Stoke Mandeville Hospital to celebrate the centre being awarded the Macmillan Quality Environment Mark for the exceptional service it provides.
Many stroke patients in Buckinghamshire are now able to return home from hospital sooner, thanks to a new early supported discharge service being rolled out across the county.

We will be speaking to groups and holding a number of events over the coming weeks. What you tell us will be used to design future health services and help us to develop more concrete proposals for consultation later in the year.
People in Buckinghamshire are being invited to take part in a series of involvement events in September to discuss how health services should be developed and delivered in the future. Staff in the Urology department at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust are celebrating as the last item of equipment funded by Scannappeal has been delivered.
Following coverage in last week’s Bucks Free Press, we would like to reassure patients and the public that we are not failing to treat patients with breast cancer. The misleading story actually refers to a temporary problem in not meeting our two week target for patients requiring an appointment to diagnose any breast problems.
Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust has responded to concerns from patients and staff around car parking and has upgraded the patient parking system at Wycombe and Amersham hospitals accordingly.

Latest figures just released by the Health Protection Agency (HPA) show that infections across the NHS in Buckinghamshire continue to remain low in our hospitals for Clostridium difficile (C. difficile) and MRSA bacteraemia (bloodstream infections).
Buckinghamshire acute hospitals have been praised for the care given to older patients in a recent unannounced inspection by the Care Quality Commission (CQC). The CQC randomly selected the Trust as part of their national review looking at acute hospital services for older people.
HRH Prince Michael of Kent attended a fundraising bike ride reception on 12 July at the National Spinal Injuries Centre (NSIC), Stoke Mandeville Hospital, to welcome a team of fundraising motorcyclists on the final leg of their 6,500 mile ride.

Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust’s new hyper acute stroke unit (HASU) is now open at Wycombe Hospital and will serve patients across Buckinghamshire and East Berkshire. This will be supported by acute stroke services at Wycombe, Stoke Mandeville and Wexham Park hospitals.

Mums who have given birth at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust are very happy with their care, according to a recent survey. The national survey, commissioned by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), asked women across the country about the care they received during pregnancy, labour and birth. Our results rated us as one of the top performing trusts in the region.
