Scannappeal celebrated their 25th birthday by inviting the Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire to unwrap a very special present.
Sir Henry Aubrey-Fletcher, who is also a Patron of the charity, and William Baxter, Chairman, delighted supporters by revealing a 3D heart scanner funded by Scannappeal to treat patients in the Buckinghamshire area. Over 100 donors and supporters were at a special reception to mark the conclusion of the £125,000 Appeal for the state-of-the-art scanner which is one of the first in the UK. It will be used to treat patients with heart disease and breast cancer patients taking Herceptin, which can damage the heart.
During the reception, Sir Henry also presented long service awards to 20 Scannappeal volunteers from around the county in recognition of their achievements. Their voluntary work varies from making items for sale to organising events, from helping in the office or bookshop or at public collections.
